Lesson · The Bee Surah
Pattern 2a · The Bee Surah

The Quran's 16th chapter is named "The Bee." The number 16 encodes exact bee chromosome biology.

Every surah has a number. The 16th surah is An-Nahl. That number 16 turns out to be the precise chromosome count of the male bee, and a root for every other biological number in the hive. No 7th-century human knew this.

How many chromosomes does a male honeybee (drone) have?

Male bees develop from unfertilised eggs, making them haploid they carry only one set of chromosomes. This was confirmed by cytogeneticists in the 1950s.

The surah number is not a coincidence. It is the biological unit for the entire hive.

The Bee · Quran chapter 16
16 = drone chromosomes. 32 = female bee chromosomes. 128 = verses in the surah. Every number is 16 × an integer and 16 is the surah's own number.
Bee chromosome counts were established by cytogenetics in the 1950s. The surah was fixed in the 7th century. The surah number, verse count, and chromosome biology all resolve to the same unit. No rounding was used.
But there is a second miracle in this same surah
The Quran addresses bees with three commands, all in the feminine. In 7th-century Arabia, hive workers were assumed to be male.
