Lesson · Pharaoh's Mummy
Quran 10:92 · Surah Yunus
فَالْيَوْمَ نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنْ خَلْفَكَ آيَةً
"Today We will preserve your body, so that you become a sign for those after you."
The Discovery
Pharaoh wore heavy metal scale armor copper, iron, and semi-precious stones. That armor would have sunk his corpse to the bottom of the Red Sea. The Bible says his body was never recovered. Yet in 1975, French scientist Dr. Maurice Bucaille found Ramesses II's mummy preserved inland with salt crystals still in its tissue and other sea water patterns, confirming he drowned. The Quran predicted this 1,400 years earlier, word for word.

What does Quran 10:92 specifically promise about Pharaoh's body?

A
It sank with his armor to the floor of the Red Sea
B
نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ لِتَكُونَ لِمَنْ خَلْفَكَ آيَةً
10:92 · Surah Yunus
"We will preserve your body as a sign for those after you"
C
It was destroyed by the waves as punishment

Pharaoh's armor made his body impossible to float. Why was the Quran's claim remarkable?

A
All ancient mummies float armor makes no difference
B
Metal scale armor and semi-precious stones are denser than water, the body should have sunk and been lost forever, yet it was found preserved inland
C
Ancient Egyptians could dive to recover sunken bodies

What did Dr. Maurice Bucaille discover in 1975 that matched the Quran's claim exactly?

A
Ramesses II's mummy was found at the bottom of the Red Sea
B
No mummies were found from the era of Moses at all
C
Ramesses II's mummy had salt crystals in its tissue confirming drowning yet it was found perfectly preserved inland, exactly as Quran 10:92 stated

Quran chapter (Surah Yunus)
Dr. Maurice Bucaille French Surgeon & Scientist
"I could not explain how the author of the Quran could have known about the preservation of Pharaoh's body without modern medical knowledge. After comparing the Quran and science rigorously, I declared my acceptance of Islam."
Pharaoh's metal scale armor copper, iron, and semi-precious stones is denser than water. His body should have sunk irretrievably to the seabed. The Bible claims the body was simply gone. Yet the Quran alone stated in 610 AD: "Today We will preserve your body as a sign."

In 1975, Dr. Bucaille examined the mummy of Ramesses II and found salt crystals embedded in the tissue and water-damage patterns as proof of drowning. The body had been found in the Valley of the Kings, hundreds of miles from the sea. An illiterate man in 7th-century Arabia could not have known about a preserved Pharaoh's mummy. No mistakes in the Quran.
