A wormhole is a shortcut through spacetime it folds the universe so that two points separated by millions of light-years become reachable in a few steps. Einstein described this in 1935, calling them "bridges" in space-time. The Quran calls them Ma'arej (معارج ascending pathways) and describes how angels use them for long-distance travel including a precise time-dilation ratio matching what general relativity predicts.
Imagine two clocks sitting side by side. If you put one near a black hole and keep the other on Earth, the clock near the black hole ticks slower - not broken, just slower. Time itself runs at a different speed. The Quran says exactly this about the Ma'arj: one day inside equals 50,000 years outside. Press Start to see it happen.

This is called time dilation - the discovery that time is not the same everywhere. Einstein proved this in 1915. In 1959, Pound and Rebka measured it in a lab tower at Harvard using light beams. In 1971, Hafele and Keating flew atomic clocks on airplanes and found the flying clocks ticked at a different rate than clocks on the ground. Your phone's GPS corrects for this every single day - without it, Google Maps would be off by 10 km, as physicist Neil Ashby of NIST documented. The Quran said "a day whose measure is fifty thousand years" - time measured differently in two places - over 1,300 years before any human knew time could behave this way.
The verse says time has a different "measure" in two places. What did Einstein discover about time?
A
Time is the same everywhere for everyone
This is what everyone believed before Einstein - but he proved it wrong. Time actually changes depending on where you are.
B
Time runs at different speeds in different places - exactly what the verse describes
Einstein called this time dilation. The Quran described it with a precise number 1,300 years earlier.
C
Time only changes if you move very fast in a straight line
Speed affects time too, but the verse doesn't mention speed - it says time itself is measured differently in two locations, which is gravity's effect on time.
Picture a piece of paper with two dots on opposite ends. The distance between them is long if you travel along the paper. But fold the paper so the dots touch - now the distance is zero. That's what a wormhole does to space: it folds it so two faraway points connect directly. Press Fold Space to watch 1,000 light-years collapse.
"And even if We opened for them a gate to heaven, through which they continued to ascend," (15:14–15) still they would say, "Our eyes have truly been dazzled! In fact, we must have been bewitched."
Now look at what the verse describes step by step, and how each step matches a wormhole: Step 1: "A gate of heaven that opens" (بابًا من السماء) - a wormhole has a mouth, an opening. Step 2: "They remained inside it" (فظلوا فيه) - the word فيه means "inside it." A wormhole is a tunnel you enter - it has an inside, unlike a black hole which has no "other side." Step 3: "They ascended through it" (يعرجون) - you travel through the tunnel and come out somewhere else. This is the same root word as Ma'arej in 70:4. The connection: Einstein and Rosen proved in 1935 that spacetime can have exactly this - an opening, a tunnel interior, and a path through to another point. Wheeler named them "wormholes" in 1957. Thorne proved stable ones can exist (Nobel Laureate). The verse describes the three features of a wormhole - mouth, tunnel, traversal - 1,300 years before the math existed.
The verse describes: an opening, an inside you enter, and a path through to somewhere else. What in physics has these three things?
A
A black hole
A black hole has an opening but nothing comes out the other side - there's no "through." The verse describes traveling through and reaching somewhere.
B
A wormhole - an opening, a tunnel you travel inside, and an exit on the other side
Einstein and Rosen proved this structure is possible in 1935. The verse described its three features 1,300 years earlier.
C
A telescope looking into space
A telescope lets you see far away - you don't enter inside it or travel through it. The verse describes physical traversal.
Here's a strange fact: when something moves extremely fast - close to the speed of light - it actually shrinks in the direction it's moving. Not compressed, not squished - its physical length becomes shorter. Hendrik Lorentz proved this in 1904 (Nobel Prize 1902). At CERN, particles moving at nearly light speed shrink to a tiny fraction of their normal size. Press Enter Wormhole to see what this means inside a tunnel where things move that fast.
Quran 7:40: "Those who deny Our signs - the doors of heaven will not be opened for them, and they will not enter Paradise until a camel passes through the eye of a needle." Now connect this to what you just learned: the verse places this scenario at the doors of heaven (أبواب السماء) - the same openable gates with tunnel interiors described in 15:14, the same ascending pathways described in 70:4. Inside a wormhole, objects travel at speeds close to light. Lorentz proved that at those speeds, objects physically shrink. A camel-sized object, moving at relativistic speed inside a wormhole tunnel, would contract - its length would genuinely shrink - making it possible to fit through an opening as small as a needle's eye. The verse places a scenario that seems impossible under normal physics exactly at the structure where the physics that makes it possible actually applies.
Fast-moving objects physically shrink. The Quran places the "camel through a needle" scene at the doors of heaven - the wormhole structures. What does this mean?
A
The camel gets crushed and destroyed to fit through
Crushing destroys the object - it wouldn't pass through in one piece. Lorentz contraction shrinks length without destroying the object.
B
Inside a wormhole, extreme speed shrinks objects - so the "impossible" fit becomes physically possible
Lorentz (Nobel 1902) proved objects shrink at high speed. The Quran placed this scene exactly where that physics applies.
C
The needle's eye magically expands to fit the camel
The verse doesn't say anything changes about the needle - it's the object that changes size under Lorentz contraction.

Why "Ma'arej" is the right word:Ma'arej (معارج) means "stairways" - a physical structure with steps you climb to go up. It doesn't mean "a miracle" or "something mysterious." It means a path you walk on, step by step, to cross a distance. When Kip Thorne (Nobel Laureate) describes a wormhole, he describes exactly this: a tunnel you travel through, step by step, that connects two points separated by a huge distance. The Quran picked a word for a physical path - not a spiritual metaphor - and physics turned out to have exactly such a path.
How Quran 15:14 describes a wormhole in three steps:First, "a gate of heaven that opens" - a wormhole has a mouth, an opening in spacetime. Second, "they remained inside it" - the Arabic word فيه means "inside it," confirming this is a tunnel with an interior, not just a surface or boundary. A black hole has no interior you travel through; a wormhole does. Third, "they ascended through it" - you move through the tunnel and reach somewhere. These three features - opening, interior, traversal - are exactly what Einstein and Rosen's 1935 paper proved spacetime can have.
Why the camel verse belongs at the "doors of heaven": Quran 7:40 doesn't just mention a camel and a needle randomly - it places this scene at the doors of heaven (أبواب السماء). Verses 15:14 and 70:4 already identified these doors as wormhole structures. Lorentz (Nobel 1902) proved that at the extreme speeds inside a wormhole, objects physically shrink - their length contracts toward zero. So a scenario that seems impossible under normal physics - a large object through a tiny opening - becomes possible precisely inside the structure the Quran placed it at. The verse connects the right "impossible" task to the right structure where physics actually resolves it.
"Owner of the Ma'arej." The Quran used one word for a physical tunnel path, gave a precise time-dilation number, described a gate with an interior you enter and travel through, and placed a length-contraction scenario at the doors where it applies. Each piece maps to a discovery made over 1,300 years later by Lorentz (1904), Einstein (1915), Einstein-Rosen (1935), Wheeler (1957), Pound-Rebka (1959), Hafele-Keating (1971), and Thorne (Nobel Laureate).
One verse matching one discovery could be coincidence. But the Quran produced a connected description across multiple verses - using shared words like Ma'arej, ya'rujoon, baab, abwaab - that maps to a single physics concept nobody had the tools to discover until the 20th century. The time ratio, the tunnel structure, the openable gate, the interior path, the length contraction at the entrance - all described with consistent vocabulary, all confirmed by real experiments and real (Nobel Laureate)s.
